Hi. The IP address you need is not your web IP, but the IP of your computer on the local network. You can find it on linux using ifconfig, unfortunately I don't know where the specific information would be on windows or Mac, but somewhere under network settings it should show your computer's IP.

Also you'll need to make sure you enable the wifi remote in LibreOffice, under
Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice ▸ Advanced select ☑ Enable experimental features.
(From: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Impress/RemoteHowTo )

I'm going to try and update the app UI to make things a bit more obvious (it should also be possible to show the IP within libreoffice, need to take a look at that as well).

Hi. I'm trying to set it up so the phone can find the computer over WiFi. (No bluetooth hardware on my Linux PC)

With the manual set up it asks for the computer name (andy-Vostro1510) and the IP address or hostname.

I've tried the address given by www.whatismyip.com but it still fails to connect. Any documentation anywhere explaining what I might be doing wrong?

The phone and laptop are connected to the same router.

- I'm currently working on a Firefox OS app (see my latest post), but don't expect anything particularly usable until the middle of the summer. (Seems there won't be many Firefox OS phones available by then anyway). Not sure about any other OS's at the moment, but the Firefox OS app should be fairly easily portable to other systems.
- I'll try and get some documentation incorporated into the LibreOffice Help system, and possibly the wiki, since that's probably the easiest place for people to find it.

Thanks, and hope the app is useful! :)

Ps. It's looking likely that another GSOC student will be working further on the app during this summer, i.e. there should be some new features and improvements appearing towards the end of the summer.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I've been using Impress remote LO and am very satisfied. Thank you very much for your great work!

It will be a software that will improve day by day.

I would like to ask a few questions that I hope you have the time to respond :).

- Are there any future plans to port the application to other mobile platforms?. For now I am the envy of colleagues and their iphone (using LO), on the other hand I am very expectant of Firefox OS and I think I'll be the first to buy a Sony smartphone with this operating system.
- Are there plans to update this blog or another to Impress remote? I mean a site that reports of features and use of remote Impress. When I present it to a friend, I teach how to use it (as connected, such as creating a server, etc, etc and really have not found much information on the web about it.

Thanks in advance and congratulations again for this great app.

Versions of Libreoffice 4.0 onwards should support the remote, although currently only on modern linux distributions:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download

(The app is now also available on the play store, i.e. will then have automatic updates:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.libreoffice.impressremote&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Hi. If you have a reasonably modern linux distribution then any version of Libreoffice from 4.0 onwards should work with the remote (I've been a bit too busy to keep up with the current status -- windows support is still unstable I believe). You can then find the app under:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.libreoffice.impressremote&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Hope this helps!

Hello, since I've heard of this project I'm very excited, and I make many of my presentations to impress libreoffice under fedora in college, and a remote control slide was what I needed to leave more impressed my teachers.

I wonder if the software can be tested (in alpha or beta version), and I have not found references to it.

I'm not a developer, but I'm always very grateful how big they are working with opensource software.

thanks

After a hard search finally I found the apk file to download at dev-builds.libreoffice.org/, but I can't find where I can to download the PC side software.
Why we have not links to download the impress remote software components?
